When you join Naybr, we collect:

• Your email address (for login and notifications)
• Your chosen display name
• Your profile photo (if you upload one)
• Your physical address (encrypted, used for verification and occasional membership-related mail)

Content You Create

We store the content you post, including:

• Activity posts and comments
• Bulletin board listings
• Direct messages
• Chat room messages
• Photos you upload

Connection Information

We track your relationships within the community:

• Neighbors you've marked as "I know them"
• Neighbors you've marked as "I trust them"

Technical Information

For security and platform operation, we collect:

• Login timestamps
• IP addresses (to detect suspicious activity)
• Browser type (for compatibility)

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Operate the platform and provide features
• Verify you're a real neighbor
• Send notifications you've opted into
• Calculate trust scores within the community
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Improve the platform based on usage patterns

We do not use your information to:

• Show you targeted advertising
• Build marketing profiles
• Sell to data brokers
• Share with government agencies (unless legally required)

How We Protect Your Data

Encryption

• All connections use HTTPS encryption
• Your address is encrypted at rest
• Direct messages will have end-to-end encryption (coming soon)

Note: Chat room messages and post comments are not end-to-end encrypted, as they're visible to other community members.

Access Controls

• Only verified neighbors can see your profile
• Administrators have limited access for moderation purposes
• Your encrypted address is never displayed to other members

Your Physical Address

Your verified address is stored securely and is never shared with other members, advertisers, or third parties. No data leaves the platform. We may occasionally send physical mail to your address related to your Naybr membership.

No Third Parties

We don't use external services that would have access to your data. Everything runs on our own servers. We may use a caching plugin for performance, but your data never leaves our platform.

How Long We Keep Your Data

Your Rights & Choices

Download Your Data

You can request a copy of all data we have about you. Visit your Settings page to download your data.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from your Settings page. Here's what happens:

1. Your account is immediately deactivated
2. You have a 7-day grace period to change your mind
3. After 7 days, your account and personal data are permanently deleted

Note: Posts and comments you made may remain visible but will show as "Deleted Neighbor" to preserve conversation context.

Notification Preferences

You control which notifications you receive. Adjust these in your Settings.

What You Can't Opt Out Of

Some data collection is required for the platform to function:

• Login tracking (security)
• Basic analytics (how features are used)
• Fraud detection

This data is used only internally and never leaves the platform.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for the platform to work:

• Session cookie: Keeps you logged in
• Security cookie: Prevents cross-site request forgery

We don't use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookies.

Children's Privacy

Naybr is designed for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll notify you through the platform. Your continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
